PG Elektrus aims to take over from the Tesla Roadster
German manufacturer PG and designer Michael Fröhlich have created the PG Elektrus, a Lotus Elise with an electric motor. With production of the Tesla Roadster now at an end, where will the millions thousands hundreds handful of car buyers round the world looking for an electric Lotus Elise for three times the money of the donor car look for gratification? Step up the PG Elektrus.
Our own Mark Vaughn recently took a tour of the sprawling California plant where Tesla is gearing up to build as many as 20,000 electric cars per year. Formerly part of the General Motors/Toyota New United Motor Manufacturing Inc. joint venture, the vast space allows huge swaths of factory floor--all newly painted--between each of the machines.
BMW may be planning to field an extra-long-wheelbase 7-series after the current model is replaced for the 2016 model year, BimmerToday reports. The current-generation 7-series has been with us since 2008, though its replacement is almost around the corner, relatively speaking. And even though the current version does not offer an extra-long-wheelbase body style, one based on the all-new 2016 BMW 7 series may be in the works.
